Revisiting The Case Of Kendrick Johnson

Kendrick Johnson is a South Georgia teenager who was found dead inside a rolled-up gym mat at school.  The family filed a $100 million lawsuit against elected officials and law enforcement officials, alleging that a local FBI agent encouraged his sons — who were school mates of Kendrick Johnson, to "violently assault him." The lawsuit was filed in DeKalb County Superior Court on behalf of Kenneth and Jacquelyn Johnson of Valdosta, GA. It names 38 defendants, including the local FBI, his two sons, and another schoolmate of Johnson, a report says.

As an update for everyone who's not aware, the lawsuit have been dropped.

Now the family including their attorney must pay more than $292,000 in legal fees to dozens of people they accused of foul play in the lawsuit that was later dropped.

THE DAY IT HAPPENED RECAP

On January 10,2013, Kendrick Johnson arrived at school in the morning. He attended his classes, and it was just an ordinary day for him. However, around 1:00 p.m.,  Kendrick vanished without a trace. His mother eventually became worried since Kendrick wasn't home at 10 in the evening.  Before midnight she went to his school, and an hour later she called the police, where a dispatcher dismissed her saying Kendrick might be out with a girl,

The following morning when she went to the school and waited in the guidance counselors officer and overheard that a body was found in the gym.

Based on the incident report from the sheriff’s department, a girl saw two feet inside one of the cheerleading mats that were rolled up vertically. Several called 911, officers arrived, students were interviewed, and in the afternoon the local coroner, Bill Watson, was called. Six hours after the arrival of the first officers, Kendrick Johnson was officially declared dead.

Blood was discovered 50 feet away from the mats, and DNA test confirmed that it wasn't Kendrick's, along with a statement from a color guard member who claimed she was injured the same night Kendrick disappeared. Unfortunately, Kendrick's family didn't push any further to see whose blood it really was.

An autopsy was done and after the family wasn't convinced of the cause of death they exhumed Kendrick Johnson's body and had a private autopsy done, in which it completely contradicted what was initially reported. You can read more by going here,

 FINAL THOUGHTS

It's very unfortunate how this case was handled in my opinion. Especially when blood was found and to my knowledge never tested to see whose blood it was.  I even read about a witness coming forward and then being arrested. You can read about the witness coming forward by going here. I feel alot of things were looked over by law enforcement and dismissed as well. A red flag to me was when it was reported that his body was stuffed with newspaper and his organs were missing. Will we ever find out the truth? I hope so.
