If you don't know who Cyntoia Brown is, then here's a little background about her. Cyntoia Brown — now 29, was sentenced to life in prison at the age of 16, for shooting and killing a man named Johnny Mitchell Allen who had picked her up for sex. Keep in mind at the time of her arrest she was a victim of sex trafficking among other abuse that went ignored.
There's a video on YouTube about her entire story that you can watch by clicking here, but before you proceed, please know that strong language is used in the video, so viewer discretion is advised.
As of recently, Cyntoia story resurfaced and many celebrities started to rally around Ms. Brown Attorney, Charles Bone said he plans to submit an application to Gov. Bill Haslam to consider a
commutation of Brown's sentence. He is also working to challenge the
law that permits juveniles to be sentenced to a minimum of 51 years if
tried in adult court, he said. She also has a habeas corpus petition still pending in federal court.
Prosecutor, Jeffrey Burks is standing by his opinion that Cyntoia Brown is not a victim, nor should be looked at as one, but I disagree along with many people. To say she was not a victim of sex trafficking is so off the wall that I forgive him for his opinion. A 16-year-old life was taken from her by a grown man who went by "Kut Throat" who sent her out on the streets daily to make money. She's a victim, and that's a fact. I do believe she was afraid for her life when she shot and killed a grown man who picked her up for sex, and was aggressive towards her in bed. However, do I agree with her stealing money? Absolutely not.
I truly hope for the best for Ms. Brown, and I will continue to follow the latest on this case as it continues to unfold. Leave your thoughts below on what you think, and be sure to share this article.
