URGENT: Amber Alert Issued For Two Missing Siblings In Jacksonville, FL (Updated - Both Found Safe & Unharmed)

URGENT: Amber Alert Issued For Two Missing Siblings In Jacksonville, FL (Updated - Both Found Safe & Unharmed)

Just over 24 hours after Braxton Williams, 6, and his sister, 5-year-old Bri’ya Williams vanished from their front yard in a mobile home park off West Beaver Street, Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said searchers “have found nothing.”

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the children were reported missing by a family member about 1:30 p.m. Sunday after they were last seen about 11:30 a.m. while playing in the front yard of at the Paradise Village Mobile Home Park off Beaver just east of Chaffee Road. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued the Amber Alert about 5:15 p.m.

Williams said the Sheriff’s Office was utilizing state and regional partners and “every resource we can get” to find the children.

Despite all those resources and the parent’s cooperation with police, there is no indication of what happened to the children.

“Foul play could be a factor at this point. We just don’t know,” Williams said. “We’ve not no indication that anyone close to the children is involved.”

Williams added investigators have been “in heavy contact” with a couple of registered sex offenders who live in the mobile home park and others within a few-mile radius.

Williams asked members of the immediate area to be vigilant and search their properties. He also asked people throughout the community to be familiar with these children’s photos and report any sightings or anything that could provide a clue to what happened to these children.

“We’ve got a heavy focus in the trailer park today, and, obviously, it’s extended into the wooded area,” Williams said. “At this point, we’ll take anything we could get.”

Anyone who has seen the children or who has information about their whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500.

It's very important that everyone share, share and share. We need to bring both of these precious children home to their family. We are living in a time when you cannot take your eyes off your children not even for a second. It's not my place to speculate, but what I will say is im surprised no screams were heard or obvious struggle given that two children were taken. Was it someone they knew and trusted? I can only hope that whatever the case may be, that they're found safe and unharmed.

Rodney Reed's Execution Stayed By Texas Appeals Court

November 15, 2019 0
Rodney Reed's Execution Stayed By Texas Appeals Court

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals Friday afternoon stopped the scheduled execution of death row inmate and convicted murderer Rodney Reed.

The nonprofit Innocence Project, which has been representing Reed in his effort to stay alive, tweeted the court granted a stay of execution that was "indefinite." The ruling was posted to the court's website.

"We are extremely relieved and thankful that the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (CCA) has issued a stay of execution for our client Rodney Reed," said his attorney, Bryce Benjet, of the Innocence Project. "This opportunity will allow for proper consideration of the powerful and mounting new evidence of Mr. Reed’s innocence."

Texas civil rights attorney S. Lee Merritt tweeted that he spoke with Reed's family after the court ruling and they are "overjoyed but know this fight isn't over."

The court's move came after the state parole board voted unanimously Friday to recommend Gov. Greg Abbott delay the execution by 120 days He was scheduled to be put to death next Wednesday.

The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, however, also asked that Abbott not commute Reed's sentence to a lesser penalty. It's unclear what the governor may decide, and his office did not immediately return a request for comment.

During Reed's trial in 1998, prosecutors said he randomly encountered Stites on the road as she drove to work at a grocery store in Bastrop, east of Austin. After she stopped for him, they said, Reed raped and strangled Stites with her own belt, leaving her body in a wooded area. Stites was weeks away from getting married to Fennell, a police officer.

Semen was found inside Stites, and police matched the DNA to that of Reed, who was arrested a year later. Reed's sperm had previously been collected as part of an unrelated sexual assault investigation.

Reed initially denied to investigators that he knew Stites, but later said they had been having a consensual sexual relationship, one that they tried to keep concealed because he is black and Stites was white.

An attorney for Fennell has denied his client's involvement in Stites' death.

While a certain group of people focus on his past, we're talking about right now. A man who was about to be murdered for a crime he didn't commit, and it was clear that he didn't commit the crime that is being spoken. I'll continue to keep everyone up to date as more comes out. I definitely wish Rodney Reed the very best.

Missing College Student Alexis Crawford Found Dead.

Missing College Student Alexis Crawford Found Dead.

Alexis Crawford, the 21-year-old Clark Atlanta University student who went missing from her off-campus apartment more than a week ago, was found dead Friday in an Atlanta area park, Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields told reporters.

According to police, the suspects are Crawford's roommate, 21-year-old Jordyn Jones, and the roommate's boyfriend, Barron Brantley, 21. One of the suspects led police to the body, the chief said.
"The case has come to one of the saddest conclusions possible and has been absolutely heartbreaking," the chief said. "To Alexis' family, our hearts go out to you. I am so truly sorry that we could not provide you with a better ending."
Her family is devastated and heartbroken, said Rev. Markel Hutchins, who is advising the Crawfords.
Alexis was the "apple of their eye" and was "very highly thought of among her family and friends," Hutchins said.
Hutchins spoke with Alexis' parents after hearing about her death and says they are grieving.
"Alexis' mother was literally unable to speak. All that she could do was listen as I tried to console and comfort her," Hutchins said. "Alexis' father said, 'If they wanted to take somebody's life they could have taken mine. They didn't have to kill my baby, they didn't have to kill her.' "
Hutchins said the grieving father repeated that statement several times.
Hutchins said that Alexis' father also told him, "I know God doesn't make any mistakes."
The family is thankful for the support from the local community as well as from people all over the country, he said.
Hutchins asked for people to pray for the family.
Clark Atlanta President George French Jr. sent a letter to the university family expressing his condolences.
"Our deepest prayers and thoughts are with her family," French wrote. "Tonight we mourn together."

Alexis Crawford is loved by many. We hope her killer is brought to justice, and I send my deepest Condolences to her close friends and family. I'll be sure to keep everyone up to date on court dates and anything news that comes out. We're living in a time when women and children are being murdered at an alarming rate, especially in the African-American community. Please be aware of your surroundings and keep a close eye on your children.

The Death of Kamille 'Cupcake' McKinney & Nevaeh Adams.

October 24, 2019 0
The Death of Kamille 'Cupcake' McKinney & Nevaeh Adams.

A South Carolina family has received the tragic news that the body of Nevaeh Adams, a 5-year-old girl missing since August, was located Friday, dumped in a landfill.

The discovery in Sumter, S.C., came more than two months after the child’s mother was found fatally stabbed and wrapped inside a rug inside her home.

“This is a horror story in every sense of the word,” Garryl Deas, an attorney representing the family, told The State newspaper in Columbia.

Authorities confirmed the girl’s death Tuesday. Her body was found during a massive search of the landfill that involved some 400 volunteers as well as personnel from more than 40 government agencies, The State reported.

“This is not the outcome any of us would have wanted,” Sumter police Chief Russell Roark told FOX 46 of Charlotte. “But we hope this can provide some closure to the family. We will continue working with the 3rd Circuit Solicitor’s Office to bring this case to trial.”

On Aug. 5, family members found the body of the girl’s mother, Sharee Bradley. She had been stabbed in the head and neck, according to The State.

Police later arrested Daunte Johnson, 28, a transient who had a relationship with Bradley, and charged him with two counts of murder.

A body that was found inside a dumpster near Alabama's most populous city has been identified as 3-year-old Kamille "Cupcake" McKinney, who was abducted from a birthday party more than a week ago.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates confirmed the positive identification in an initial report Wednesday, which stated that Kamille's remains were discovered Tuesday at a landfill in Gardendale, a northern suburb of Birmingham. The cause and time of death has not yet been determined.

Patrick Stallworth, 39, and Derick Irisha Brown, 29, were initially named persons of interest in Kamille's disappearance. They were both arrested last week on unrelated charges. Stallworth was arrested on child porn charges and Brown was jailed for violating probation conditions on a previous kidnapping charge.

After recovering the toddler's remains on Tuesday, the Birmingham Police Department announced its plans to charge Stallworth and Brown with capital murder and kidnapping in connection to the case.

“We believe that this was something they thought about and acted upon and they saw an opportunity to take a young child, and they did,” Birmingham Police Chief Patrick Smith told reporters Tuesday.

"I would like to thank the public for all of the information, all of the tips, all of the video and for their cooperation with this police department during the course of this investigation."

I decided since both girls were found on the sameday it was only fair to post about both at the sametime for equal attention. If you never watched your children closely at any other time, now would be the time. It also wouldn't hurt to refresh your children memories on safety, and talk to your teenagers about Human Trafficking.

A Selfless Man, John Marsden Of Houston, TX.

October 22, 2019 0
A Selfless Man, John Marsden Of Houston, TX.

I first learned about John Marsden when the Maleah Davis story first broke. Since then I have been a follower and can honestly say I am truly touched by everything he continues to do for his community. From feeding the homeless to fighting for justice for Homicide Victims, and more. I decided to personally take a moment to write this blog to bring attention to John and the people who walk side by side with him. Each and everyone of them deserve recognition for all that they do.

If you would like to know more about John Marsden and follow him as he continues to help his community in Houston, TX  you can follow him by clicking here.

As the holidays roll around John will be putting together another event to give back. If you would like to help out he does have a CASHAPP: $JohnA75  where you can donate if you choose to.  Below are some pictures of his latest event that involved feeding the Homeless. Which was a complete success. Nobody went to sleep hungry yesterday who was able to attend.

We are living in a time when coming together is very important, as well as giving back. If you have time make a few care bags or buy someone lunch. I learned a lot from John and feel so inspired that I plan to do my own give back during Christmas time.  It's up to us to better our community and built each other up.

This is my feel good story, something I plan to do more often. So if you know anyone in your community that does an outstanding job with giving back, feel free to e-mail me as I don't mind putting together a blog post to bring some attention to those who deserve it.

Black School Security Assistant Fired After Asking Student Not To Call Him The N-Word.

October 20, 2019 0
Black School Security Assistant Fired After Asking Student Not To Call Him The N-Word.

Only in America will a Black man get fired from his job for asking a racist student to stop calling him the N-word. It's truly ridiculous and sad.  So if you don't know, Marlon Anderson was fired from a Madison, Wisconsin school district High School.

Anderson, 48, said Friday in an interview with the Journal Sentinel that he was "doing a lot better" than days earlier.

On Oct. 9, Anderson was escorting a disruptive male student out of the West High School building when the student started calling Anderson the N-word after pushing the school's assistant principal and threatening to beat her up.

In responding to the abusive language, Anderson says he said the word himself in making a point to the student not to use it.

"Every type of N-word you can think of, that’s what he was calling me," Anderson said. "I said, do not call me that name. I'm not your N-word. Do not call me that."

West High School Principal Karen Boran later that week pulled Anderson aside, he said, and told him he had "an uphill battle" to keep his job. And in a letter Wednesday, Boran told parents a staff member — Anderson — would not be returning to the school after an investigation of the incident.

"As you know, our expectation when it comes to racial slurs has been very clear," Boran wrote. "Regardless of context or circumstance, racial slurs are not acceptable in our schools."

Anderson called the policy "lazy."

"You can’t eliminate racism by ignoring it — by trying to hide the word or by trying to legislate the word," he said. "What if a white student calls a black student an N-word, but doesn’t say the word? It's the intent behind what you’re saying."

Madison School District Superintendent Jane Belmore in a statement Friday said the district wants to take a strong stand against the use of racial slurs but also suggested officials will review the policy that prompted Anderson's firing.

Anderson is appealing the district's decision to fire him — a process that Belmore and Reyes said Friday will move along "as quickly as possible."

Also as of recently, Marlon Anderson was hired temporarily to work at the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County. He will serve as Director of Program Operations, in which he will manage volunteer engagement, special initiatives and teen recruitment, the Boys & Girls Club says.

I definitely wish him the best, and I hope this student is punished to the maximum that's allowed. Overall the school wants to show how strict they are.  This firing was wrong and definitely could've been handled differently in my opinion. Even if he's offered his job back, he should be careful.

Officer Who Shot Atatiana Jefferson Wasn't Actually Asked To Do A Wellness Check

October 18, 2019 0
Officer Who Shot Atatiana Jefferson Wasn't Actually Asked To Do A Wellness Check

So the plot continues to thicken as the story continues to change. It's now being reported that the call from Dispatchers to Police were reported as an open structure call, similar to a potential burglary. Unfortunately this changes things which means this Officer could very well get acquitted or have his charges dropped all together, which I doubt it. But there's still a chance especially after this new information. So about that call by the neighbor and more about what it means?

Many times a welfare check involves a medical emergency, an elderly person living alone or a relative who is difficult to get ahold of.

For those calls, police officers usually knock on someone's door and wait for an answer. But the mindset of a police officer changes when they hear it's an "open structure" or "open door" call.

Michael "Britt" London, president of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association, said officers have a more cautious approach and run through multiple scenarios in their heads. They could be presented with a simple case of a door left unlocked, an abandoned home, or a burglary in progress.

"You are at a higher sensitivity to what is going on with that house," London said. "You have to be ready for anything. You are taking more of your environment in consideration to be ready for a surprise if there's one."

The first thing that comes to mind is often a burglary -- that's why officers search for signs of forced entry like a broken window or a damaged door.

Body camera footage from that night shows Dean, 34, peering through two open doors and walking around the perimeter of the house. He then pointed his weapon at a window and yelled "Put your hands up! Show me your hands!" seconds before he opened fire, striking Jefferson.

He resigned from the department on Monday, and was arrested and charged with murder. His attorney, Jim Lane, told CNN the former officer is remorseful.

With this new information I couldn't help but to go back and read what the neighbor originally said.

"Well, the front doors have been open since 10 o'clock. I haven't seen anybody moving around. It's not normal for them to have both of the doors open this time of night," Jefferson's neighbor said, according to audio of the phone call released by authorities.

"OK, do you know if anyone is inside?" the police call-taker asked him.

"I'm not sure. Both of the cars are there," he replied.

The neighbor went on to describe the vehicles and also confirmed his name and phone number.
"Are they usually home at this time?" the call-taker later asked him.

"They're usually home but they never have both doors open," the neighbor told her. "The lights are on, I can see through the house. My sister woke me up, she lives across the street from them. I live on the opposite side of my sister."

You can read the full and complete story by clicking here.

If you're still reading, I am glad because Jeff Halstead, a retired Fort Worth chief of police and police consultant, said there was nothing in the body camera footage released after the shooting suggests there was a crime happening.

"They were standing literally at the front door, they could see whether the door was kicked on or not. The lights were on, there was evidence that people were living there, there were toys," Halstead said.

"Why they advanced to an extremely dark backyard area without at least ringing the doorbell or checking the entrance? That's extremely concerning."

Dean's experience as a police officer could have factored into how he acted during the call, Halstead said.

Will common sense and the law be enough or will the love for police overshadow justice? I say this because people are so busy trying to paint this officer as doing his job, and it just being so dangerous and we'll just never understand, but don't want to talk about the fact that Atatiana Jefferson was in her own home. What I will say is I wonder why the door was open if they were playing video games. It's late at night. Not out the ordinary though and it could've been open for many reasons. I feel as if something is missing from the story.  What I do know along with many other people is that an innocent woman was killed. It was no accident, it was because of an officer failure to follow proper protocols. So I hope when the jury is going over everything the fact that the door was open doesn't get in the way, especially when we don't know why it was open.

Reward Grows To $25,000 For Missing 3-year-old Kamille "Cupcake" McKinney.

October 16, 2019 0
Reward Grows To $25,000 For Missing 3-year-old Kamille "Cupcake" McKinney.

The Birmingham Police Department again asked for the public's help in finding 3-year-old Kamille "Cupcake" McKinney, who is still missing after being kidnapped in Tom Brown Village on Oct. 12.

Chief Patrick Smith stared directly into cameras as he made a plea for the person or people who have Cupcake to let her go and drop her off at a fire station, hospital or another safe location.

"If you know where Kamille is, if you have her and you're not sure what to do, I want to just talk to you for one second," Smith said. "I want to give you safe passage. Please bring her to one of our fire stations, police stations, a hospital. If you don't know what to do or where to go and you're frightened, we're here to help you. Our goal is to reunite this 3-year-old baby with her family. I'm asking you now, if you know where Kamille is, that you contact us, that you please bring her to a safe location and we will follow up from there."

Anyone with information regarding the disappearance of Kamille "Cupcake" McKinney is urged to call the Birmingham Police Department at 205-297-8413 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.

Unfortunately at some point today news outlets falsely reported that Kamille McKinney have been found, but those reports were quickly shot down and are not true.  She is still missing, so please continue to be on the look-out for her.

The two people arrested that are said to be persons of interest are Patrick Stallworth, 39, who is facing several child porn charges and Derick Brown, 29, who is being held in jail for probation revocation stemming from a 2018 case. An SUV that was being sought by police was also located but little Kamille was not inside.

So far nothing makes sense after the family took to social media and did some finger pointing. The original story that was reported was that Kamille was at a Birthday Party and playing outside with other children when she was abducted. Since then the story been all over the place, so much that I am pretty sure Law Enforcement is withholding somethings for this very reason. Whatever the case may be I hope Kamille is found safe and unharmed, and those involved are brought to justice.

Atatiana Jefferson Pointed Gun At Police, Says The Warrant.

October 15, 2019 0
Atatiana Jefferson Pointed Gun At Police, Says The Warrant.

How did I know that this was coming? It's terrible. Atatiana nephew Zion told Police that when his aunt started hearing noises coming from outside, she got her handgun from out of her purse, something she had every right to do. Police did not identify themselves, something they should've done, even if the door was open, a simple yell through the door, "Police, show yourselves" would've been appropriate.  What I do know for a fact that under Texas law Atatiana was in her right to defend herself, or will it become a thing now that even in our own homes we have no right to defend ourselves? allowing the intruder to avoid consequences. This is very dangerous. If this is the case mind as well revoke gun ownership right now.

This will now be a trend, I am saying it because I know what's about to happen. This is just a new way to kill. It also goes to show a lot of White Police Officers in particular shouldn't be cops anytime you're scared of a shadow.  There are Blacks, Asians, Hispanics, etc serving in these Police Departments, but 99% of these shootings appears to be clear that White Police Officers are very scared and will shoot and ask questions later.  Saying "sorry" will not bring Atatiana Jefferson back to life. She's gone forever.

So here's what we know so far;

Atatiana Jefferson, 28, was playing video games with her 8-year-old nephew around 2:30 am on Saturday when she heard sounds in her backyard, according to the warrant for former Fort Worth Police Officer Aaron Dean's arrest for alleged murder.

The noises were Dean, 34, and his partner moving around the back of her home, without announcing their presence, after they were sent to investigate why her front door was open.

Dean resigned on Monday before he could be fired for breaching a string of police policies by shooting Jefferson dead with a single shot through a bedroom window, according to Fort Worth Police Chief Ed Kraus.

Dean's attorney, Jim Lane, told Fort Worth's NBC 5 television station his client "is sorry" for "the tragedy" and his family "is in shock." Lane did not respond to a request for further comment.

Dean was booked into the Tarrant County Correction Center on murder charges. He was later released on a $200,000 bond.

Like we've seen during the trial of Amber Guyger, somehow she became the victim. The victim family calling her actions a mistake, and the judge going as far as hugging her and giving her a bible. There's no doubt in my mind that this Police Officer will be painted as the victim who was afraid for his life, but what about Atatiana? did she not have a right to be afraid for hers as well? I am curious like everyone else to see what this trial going to be like. Will this former Officer be acquitted or will he get the minimum as well. Will there be hugs and bibles passed around too? I'll be sure to keep everyone updated.

Botham Jean's Neighbor Who Was A Key Witness, Murdered.

October 05, 2019 0
Botham Jean's Neighbor Who Was A Key Witness, Murdered.

Brown who was a key witness in the murder trial of former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger was fatally shot Friday in the parking lot of his apartment complex, according to attorney Lee Merritt.

Joshua Brown was a neighbor of shooting victim Botham Jean, who was sitting in his apartment in September 2018 when Guyger walked inside and shot him to death. Brown says he lived directly across the hall from Jean.
Merritt, attorney for Jean's family, told CNN he spoke to Brown's mother who confirmed the death.

Dallas police responded to a call for a shooting at the Atera Apartments complex around 10:30 p.m. Friday, police told CNN.
Officers were flagged down by witnesses who directed them to Brown, who was lying on the ground of the apartment parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to a statement from Dallas Police.
Witnesses told police they heard several gunshots and saw a silver four-dour sedan speed out of the parking lot, police said.
Brown had no identification on him, so police couldn't identify him until the medical examiner made a positive ID and notified the next of kin.
There is no suspect information at this time, police said.

UPDATE
While the story is still developing I was able to confirm reports that Joshua Brown was shot in the mouth and chest. He had no known enemies and he was a hard working man. It's sad and unfortunate that this happened, and from the details it sounds like a personal attack, especially after the world witnessed bizarre behavior after Amber Guyger was convicted and sentenced to 10 years for the Murder of Botham Jean. From the Bailiff rubbing her fingers through Amber Guyger hair, Judge hugging her and giving her a Bible to go to Prison with, Jury saying it was a mistake, despite them convicting her of Murder to the Brother and Father of Botham expressing their forgiveness and wanting to be friends with Amber Guyger. This certainly didn't help, and could've been a retaliation killing.

NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo fired for 'reckless' actions, Plans To Appeal And Will Still Receive All Pension Benefits He Had Accrued Through Monday.

NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo fired for 'reckless' actions, Plans To Appeal And Will Still Receive All Pension Benefits He Had Accrued Through Monday.

Daniel Pantaleo, the New York City police officer seen on video using a chokehold during Eric Garner's deadly arrest five years ago — sparking mass protests and becoming a rallying cry for the Black Lives Matter movement — was fired by the department on Monday.

NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill announced he'll enforce an administrative judge's recommendation, made earlier this month, that Pantaleo be terminated over the July 17, 2014, confrontation as Garner was being arrested on Staten Island for selling loose, untaxed cigarettes.

Pantaleo, who has been with the NYPD since 2006, was suspended as soon as that departmental verdict was reached, in keeping with long-standing practice when there is a recommendation for firing. The 13-year veteran had been on desk duty as his case made its way through legal and administrative circles.

The now-former police officer plans to fight his termination under Article 78, a New York civil code that sets a path for challenges to rulings by a government agency.

"After the Article 78, if we need to appeal beyond that we will," London said. "We are looking for him to get his job back."

If the termination stands, Pantaleo would still be entitled to all pension benefits he had accrued through Monday, according to O'Neill.

This is of course a step in the right direction. However, we tend to take a step forward and then take ten steps backwards is what I am worried about. I'll wait and see how this appeal process goes and then come back with a complete article of my own. We should always be careful about how soon we celebrate things.
