Teaching Our Children About Today's World

America have changed to the point where it's time to have the race talk with our children. Some parents decide to withhold that talk and I can understand since it is uncomfortable and it may make your child sad. However, children have also changed and sadly racism have entered our school system. Does this mean you tell your child to stay away from this child or that child because the color of their skin? Absolutely not. What you do tell them is that there are many forms of bullying and one form is someone may bully them because of their skin color, and to let an adult know as soon as it happens. Assure your child that everyone is beautiful no matter what someone else may think or say and the person saying mean things have a problem of their own that they need to work out.

Be sure to uplift and complement your children daily. Let them know how much you love them and how proud of them you are. Tell your daughter how beautiful she is, and tell your son how handsome he is. It's time we built up our households to be stronger and better.

When it comes down to teenagers they will definitely feel the stress of the world and know exactly what is going on because of social media and the best thing you can do is make sure they have a good circle of friends. Make sure they stay in school, and encourage them to get a summer job. All of these things will help them mentally and built them to be hungry for success and it shows them that despite what is going on they can make it.

It's really sad that I have to write this but then again it's also good that I wrote this since we need to talk about this and who knows this may actually help someone. We're entitled to live life just like everyone else and the days of being backed into the corner is over with. The days of tormenting our children are over with. It just comes down to uplifting each other and being there for our children more than ever.
