First African-American Basketball Player In Southeastern Conference, Dies at 69

Perry Wallace first took court for Vanderbilt University 50 years ago. He was the first African-American basketball player in the Southeastern Conference. He also went on to become a Justice Department Lawyer and law school professor. He sadly died on Dec 1, at a hospice center in Rockville, Md. He was 69.

He died from cancer, confirmed by a family spokesman known as Andrew Maraniss, who's an author of the best-selling 2014 book, "Strong Inside: Perry Wallace and the Collision of Race and Sports in the South."

What a great man indeed, I send my thoughts and condolences to his family, and may his memory forever be kept alive and cherished. To read more about Mr. Wallace, you can do so by clicking here and be sure to share this story. His family are in our thoughts.
